In this video, you will learn the 6 require steps you must take so you can build a WordPress website.
Step 1) Get a domain name and web-host provider
As I said previously, a domain name is the address for your website and the way people are able to find your website online. In my next video, I will explain how you can get a domain name and also offer a few tips to help you choose a better name.
A web-host provide is the company that provides space in their server. Where you can install WordPress and start building a website.
The company I mention in this video course and which I will later use is Bluehost. One of the oldest web-host providers on the Internet. Bluehost is known to offer a professional service for a reasonable price. Once you subscribe to their service, they provide a free domain name.
For this reason, you won’t need to purchase one from another company. Even though… if you want to later build more websites. I recommend for you to purchase from another place. It’s never a good idea to put all your eggs in a single basket.
This way if you have problems with your web-host company you won’t lose all your websites. In this case, you get one for free so you might as well use it.
The service I typically use to purchase most of my other domain names is Namecheap. You might want to take a look afterward.
2) Install WordPress
Once you have a web-host and domain name, it’s time for you to install WordPress. You can easily do this by using the one-click installation option in Bluehost Cpanel.
3) Build a professional website
One of the most exciting steps from them all is to start building your website. It’s time to get your hands dirty and make stuff happen! In this section, you will learn how to:
- Add posts and pages
- Chose a theme
- Install plugins
4) Install a web-analytic program
It’s all fun and good to have a website but how are you able to see your visitors?
Well, easy! You need to have a web-analytic program. The one I chose for this course is Clicky. You can also use the one offered by Google. However, I don’t recommend it! The reason is Google Analytic is a complicated tool to use. Therefore, I prefer Clicky due to its simplicity and you can also see your visitors in real-time.
You can also discover other important information about your visitors, such as:
- The kind of articles they enjoy reading in your website.
- The search engine terms they used to find your website.
- If they are coming from any of your social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc).
A web-analytic is really vital for the success of your WordPress website. You can take advantaged from this information and give exactly the type of content your visitors love. Or, improve the SEO in the website and much more.
5) How to Search Engine Optimize Your Website
Search engine optimization or SEO is the process of tweaking a website to achieve better rankings in the search engine results page ( SERP).
For instance, let’s imagine you wanted to learn more about, “white socks.” You would open your browser in Google, or another search engine. Afterward, write in the small search box, “white socks” then a search engine results page (SERP) would appear showing several related websites.
The fact is being in the front page of these results is important if you want to receive free traffic from the search engines. However, for you to be able to rank there, you need to learn how to properly SEO your website.
6) Use an e-mail service
I recommend this last part, however, it’s not necessary. Anyway, integrating an email service into your website, allows you to start building a list from people, who are interested in what you have to offer.
This way you can promote older articles that are no longer visible in your website; relevant products, etc. All to highly relevant people.
Another part is people check their email in a daily basis. On contrary to a website, where they many times enter once and then forget about it.
