Welcome to the seventh video from this SEO tutorial. In this one I continue explaining several ways you are able to speed up your website.
Now you will learn how to use a plugin called, “Plugin Performance Profiler”. One of the factors which slowdowns your uploading time are the number of plugins you have installed. Typically, the more plugins you are using at the same time the less fluid your site works.
P3 plugin lets you easily and quickly see the amount of time each plugin is taking to upload on your site. But not only, you will also find other useful information about them. This way you are able to decide which plugin you should keep or remove.
For instance, when I tried P3 for the first time I discovered Jetpack was slowing my website nearly a second. I know it may not seem much but on the Internet it’s a huge deal!
It’s the difference between someone sticking around and reading my content from leaving because they’re tired of waiting for my website to upload on their computer’s screen. As much as I love Jetpack, I decided to remove it from Prositetutorials. After all, I wasn’t even using half of its functions. Instead, I installed more specific plugins and increased my overall website’s speed.
Once you’ve used P3, you may want to remove it. You really don’t need to keep it around, since you will rarely use its functions. This way you free up your website from having too many plugins installed.
How to Install and Use P3?
Step 1) Enter to your WordPress back-office.
Step 2) Under Plugins section click on, “Add new”
Step 3) In the search box write, “Plugin Performance Profiler”
Step 4) It should be the first plugin appearing on the listing. Press, “Install Now” and in the next page, “Activate Plugin”
Step 5) In the installed plugin listing search for P3. Afterward, press the scan now option appearing below.
Step 6) Once you’re in the P3 page, press the button saying, “Start Scan” and in the window which pops out, “Auto Scan”. The scanning process may take a couple of minutes depending on the amount of plugins you have installed.
Step 7) Analyse the data you get.
P3 is really a fantastic little plugin which allows you to further enhance the uploading time from your website. You may not even notice it, but sometimes you may have plugins which are making your website sluggish. In this case, remove them and seek for other ones providing similar features and see if they run smoother.
